I can't find it in the library!

Some of you who are in the midst of dissertations may have enountered a problem - you've found what seems to be the perfect piece of material but UoB libraries don't seem to have it in stock, so what can you do?

The library has a document supply service which enables you to obtain materials not in stock at any of our campus libraries or held electronically. It's available to:

• final year undergraduates (5 free requests)
• postgraduates (20 free requests)
• researchers, doctoral students and staff (25 free requests)

The University of Bedfordshire is also a member of SCONUL Access. This is a co-operative venture between most higher education libraries of the UK and Ireland. By joining SCONUL access you are able to borrow material from other participating libraries. Check the list of member libraries to ensure that the library that you need participates in the scheme.

Enhancement to the Document Supply Service

In the past if you requested an item on inter-library loan, using our document supply service and if that item was actually already stocked by UoB Libraries you were simply sent a link to that item in the library catalogue.

Now, if you request an item which is already stocked by UoB Libraries a RESERVATION will automatically be placed for you and you will receive the following message:

This item is in stock at the University of Bedfordshire.


Please remember to check the University catalogue before

submitting requests through document supply.

when it is available for pickup at your home campus.

No Limits On Document Supply!

From Monday 25th February 2013 onwards there will no longer be any restrictions on the number of document supply requests that Level 3 undergraduate students, postgraduate researchers and staff can make for FREE! 

The Document Supply Team will monitor requests to ensure that the service is being used appropriately.

Stuidents at Level 1 and Level 2 who are unable to find the materials that they need for assignments by using University of Bedfordshire Libraries own resources are advised (as before) to consult their Academic Liaison Librarian. You can contact me at: sally.fensome@beds.ac.uk
