Statistics are good for backing up an argument and will add depth to your research. Do remember that statistics may not always have been collected in the format you require.

The UK Government is a major collector of statistics, most of which are freely available online. 




The Office for National Statistics covers England and Wales; as well as UK-wide national statistics. You can browse statistics by theme or use the search facility to find statistics on a particular issue.

UK National Statistics Publication Hub is the gateway to publications produced by the Office for National Statistics. Browse by theme and watch the box (to the right of the page) for links to full text reports and other related websites with statistics. 

UK Statistics Authority oversees the Office for National Statistics and provides independent scrutiny of all UK official statistics. It produces a range of assessment reports on statistics covering all aspects of life in the UK.
